In 1906, a leather craftsman named Guccio Gucci founded the House of Gucci, a saddlery shop in Florence, Italy where Gucci sold genuine, handcrafted leather goods. Gucci sold the fine leather bags to horsemen in the early 1910's. And became world known for its high quality and sleek design.
In the 1950's, Gucci started being branded, and their signature design you can still spot today. Their leather handbag with bamboo handles is one of them, a signature item now. In the 50's also their trademark was red striped webbing. The 1960's brought Gucci into the global spotlight with its signature "GG" monogram logo and drew the attention of celebrities such as Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn who helped make Gucci synonymous with Hollywood chic.
